Salt River Tubing is a very popular pastime during the summer months in Southern Arizona. Located in the Tonto National Forest about 90 minutes north of Tucson the Salt River is an easy drive for a weekend day of fun on the river.
Salt River Tubing & Recreation is the primary vendor offering tube rentals and they are open 7 days a week during the summer months from about mid May to mid September. Rates run $14 bucks a head including the shuttle bus so this a pretty inexpensive event. Note: They Only Take Cash! Plan on parking in the Salt River Recreation Parking Lot, otherwise you will have to get a Tonto Pass which costs 6 bucks. Don't skip the pass whatever you do because the fines can be up to $100 for parking without it. Here's a page about the Tonto Pass that will tell you everything you need to know. Do a little research before your first trip. There are some rules (like kids must be 8 years old and over 48" tall) and there are things you need to take, like Water & Suntan Lotion. There are also things that are Not Allowed like Glass containers. The Salt River is just one of the fun things to do near Tucson while you are here looking at some of our beautiful Tucson Homes. Take time out while you're here to have a little fun! Getting there is easy. Head up I-10, Go East on the 202 Freeway, Exit on Power Road and turn left heading North. Go about 7 miles to a 4 way stop sign and loof for Salt River Tubing & Recreation on your left. | |
