Roper Lake is located over in Stafford about 7 miles south of town. Stafford is located to the East of Tucson. The lake is about 32 acres and reaches 45 feet in depth. There are some lunkers down there, they actually caught a 29 pound catfish in this lake back in 1996, Wow. There are some big Bass down there too with the record being an 11 and a half pounder. This is a smaller lake so electric motors only here, not gas motors allowed.
Roper Lake sits at an elevation of about 3100 feet and is stocked with Rainbows, Bass, Sunfish and Catfish. The lake is a popular camping area with over 70 camping sites scattered around in several different camping areas. The Largest campground is the Hacienda and it has some handicap sites, electric hookups, grill, tables, restrooms and more.
Roper Lake is a little ways from Tucson but well worth the trip if you are interested in trying out someplace new and looking for a shot at one of those lunkers.
